What are you growing this year?

Are you growing something new or are you sticking to the same varieties that have shown you success in previous years?

For us we're growing lots of new varieties.

Tomatoes, we're growing Costoluto Genovese, Fiorentino, Gardener's Ecstacy and Millefleur to name a few. They're growing well so far.

Aubergines - all new for us. Organic Diamond, White Sausage, Black Beauty and Raspberry Ripple.

Trying Khol Rabi again - we didnt get to eat it last year!

And I'm going to town with Squashes and Pumpkins. Excited to see if my Pacific Giant will work out this year!

I always try to add at least a few new varieties to my garden. I had a lot of luck with Aunt Molly's ground cherries last year and this year I am trying Strawberry ground cherries. I could not get any of my pineapple ground cherry seeds to germinate and I tried from 2 different vendors. I am also trying Blott Peppers, Hamik Peppers and Shishito Peppers for the first time ever.

That's great! I had no idea Physalis were called ground cherry. I only knew them as Cape Gooseberry. We had quite some success with those last year and this year we have quite a lot of plants starting to take off as well (including some that self-seeded in the greenhouse). I have no idea of the variety though.

When you start to get a harvest I would be interested in seeing pictures!

I am trying a new tree, Algarobo Europeo, they grow this tree in Spain ..the fruits can be used to replace cacao. About eight years until first harvest .. :-( , I bought twenty seeds ( 1 US each) and only three germinated so far.

I will absolutely share pics. My two "strawberry" ground cherry bushes are HUGE and I can see fruit starting already. Here are a couple of pics from my recent YouTube video showing my ground cherry plant with my first ground cherry of the year. The white is Surround Kaolin Clay i sprayed on to help deter insects and help with the heat.
